Hardwood Briquettes
What it is
Kel's Hardwood Briquettes are premium, smokeless charcoal fuel made from sustainably sourced timber offcuts and wood waste. Compressed under high pressure without chemical binders, these briquettes deliver consistent, long-lasting heat perfect for domestic cooking, heating, and commercial grilling. Each briquette is tested for moisture content, density, and calorific value — ensuring reliable performance every time. Engineered for the Nigerian climate: high humidity, intense heat, and tropical conditions that demand dependable fuel.
Performance Benefits & Uses
- Long-lasting burn: Burns 3× longer than firewood and charcoal, giving you more heat per kilogram and better value for money.
- Smokeless, cleaner combustion: Produces minimal smoke and ash, keeping your kitchen and cooking area clean. Safe for indoor and outdoor use.
- High, consistent heat output: 4,800–5,200 kcal/kg energy content ensures even cooking temperatures for kitchens, stoves, and grills.
- Minimal ash residue: Far less ash than charcoal means easier cleanup and less environmental impact.
- Perfect for diverse cooking: Ideal for domestic stove cooking, jollof rice, soups, grilling, smoking, and traditional Nigerian food preparation.
- Commercial-grade reliability: Many small bakeries and food businesses trust Kel's for consistent daily heat output.
How to Use
- Storage: Keep briquettes in a dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Store in a well-ventilated area or sealed container to maintain dryness.
- Lighting: Arrange briquettes in your stove or grill. Light from the bottom using dry kindling, newspaper, or a fire starter. Briquettes ignite easily and will catch flame within 5–10 minutes.
- Heat management: Once lit, briquettes burn steadily. Control heat by adjusting airflow — close vents slightly to reduce temperature, open for more heat.
- Cooking efficiency: Let briquettes burn for 15–20 minutes before placing food. This allows a stable bed of hot coals, perfect for even cooking.
- Refueling: Add fresh briquettes to maintain heat. Because they burn longer, you'll need fewer additions than with firewood or traditional charcoal.
- Disposal: Let ashes cool completely before disposal. The minimal ash can be used as garden compost.
Storage & Maintenance
- Keep away from moisture. Wet briquettes lose efficiency and become difficult to light.
- Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space — not in a damp cupboard or basement.
- Each pack is sealed to maintain freshness. Once opened, use within 4–6 weeks for best results.
- Do not store near water sources, flammable materials, or in direct sunlight for extended periods.
- Check briquettes before use — any visible mold or dampness means they need air-drying before lighting.
Cleaner burn. Stronger heat. Better every time.
